About Mrs. Phipps
I have 2 grown children, Josh and Kasey. Josh and his wife, Katy, blessed our family with my first grandchild in 2011, the same year my husband of 32 years died of a brain tumor. Needless to say, my grandson has been a welcome addition to my family! My daughter works locally in Santa Rosa and my son is currently finishing his last year at SFSU with a year abroad in Tienjin, China.
I graduated with an Art degree from Cal State University Long Beach and raised my children in Long Beach and Southern California mostly. I have been teaching at Meadow View since 2001. Previous to that time I was teaching in the Long Beach Unified School District both as a Substitute teacher and Art Teacher, as my own children were growing up. Since coming to Meadow View, I have taught 1st-3rd grades, with the last 10 years being in Kindergarten. Once Transitional Kindergarten became a reality, I have been the sole TK teacher for the last 3 years.
I enjoy traveling, and recently toured Scotland, Ireland and London in the United Kingdom with my daughter. I have also traveled to Brazil, China, Jamaica, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico. I have been through all but 7 of the United States. I enjoy meeting people of different cultures and languages and learning of their customs and differences. I like to taste the unusual foods and experience the local flavors of the places I visit. I love to see the local artists and craftsmen and collect art from Sonoma County artists as well.
I always tell your children that I am here to teach them, but to also keep them safe. They know that I will treat them as I would my own children and grandchild--with care and safety. I have experience teaching during times of riots and earthquakes, so know that I mean what I say: I will take care of your children for you. They will learn, they will grow and they will feel safe.
